**ICT Infrastructure transformation helps** **[City Link](http://www.city-link.co.uk/)** **Deliver Results.**

Following a tender process, leading premium express delivery company [City Link](http://www.city-link.co.uk/) chose [Sungard Availability Services](http://www.sungardas.co.uk/) as its  consulting and technology partner in a 3½ year, £2.5m deal to manage City Link’s cloud and managed services including its data centre.

**Business Challenge:**

When premium express parcel company [City Link](http://www.city-link.co.uk/) was sold by rentokil initial, it faced an immovable deadline to disengage its IT and communications infrastructure from its parent within just 12 months, after which it would incur punitive sanctions. It embarked on the search to find a technology partner able to implement a robust, resilient solution within the tight timescale imposed.

**Solution:**

•  [Enterprise Cloud Services](http://www.sungardas.co.uk/Services/Cloud-Infrastructure/Overview/Pages/Enterprise-Cloud-Services.aspx) (ECS) with failover to a secondary site
•  [Cloud Consulting](http://www.sungardas.co.uk/Services/Cloud-Infrastructure/Cloud-Consulting/Pages/Cloud-Consulting.aspx)
•  [Data Centre Transformation](http://www.sungardas.co.uk/Knowledge-Centre/White-Papers/Pages/Data-Centre-Transformation.aspx)
•  [Electronic Vaulting](http://www.sungardas.co.uk/Services/Business-Continuity/IT-Recovery/Electronic-Vaulting-Services/Pages/Electronic-Vaulting-Services.aspx)
•  [Colocation](http://www.sungardas.co.uk/Services/Managed-Hosting/Hosting-Colocation/Pages/Hosting-Colocation.aspx) housing those servers unsuitable for virtualisation
•  [Telephony Infrastructure](http://www.sungardas.co.uk/Services/Pages/Services.aspx) provided through a dedicated, fully
   managed ESX box.

**Business Benefits:**

•  High availability of critical systems, applications and data
preserves all-important reputation for  on-time deliveries
•  Supports vital Track & Trace  function, which gives [City Link](http://www.city-link.co.uk/) a
   competitive advantage
•  Low risk transition from physical  to hybrid cloud environment
•  Ability to scale up cost-effectively  in line with company growth
•  Minimises risk of financial loss and  customer attrition
•  Freedom to focus on the business  by removing the burden of
   infrastructure management
•  Peace of mind for [City Link](http://www.city-link.co.uk/) and  its customers that the business
   is built on firm foundations.
