Global economic and geopolitical uncertainty, coupled with the unrelenting pace of technological change has driven the urgent need for organisations to transform. In fact 95% of our 2024 Chief Disruptor Disruptive Trends Survey respondents are currently in the middle of at least one business transformation. 

Chief Disruptor’s latest research in the 2024 Disruptive Trends Survey reveals a wide variety of reasons why organisations undergo business transformation. These transformation strategies fall into a number of categories including:

  • Performance improvement, efficiencies or growth
  • Leveraging disruptive technologies for competitive edge such as generative AI, automation, cloud and big data analytics
  • Integrating data, customer centricity and customer engagement into every aspect of the organisation 
  • Broader strategic goals such as to promote diversity or sustainability 

Regardless of the objective of the transformation, some experts believe that up to 70% of business transformations fail to deliver value. According to the 2024 Disruptive Trends Survey, poorly aligned people, culture and processes are some of the key reasons behind this failure.
